Appenzeller Spitzhauben
While this page may say out of stock, we still have a handful for our Open Coop Days, as a percentage of our flock is availible for pre-orders. Looking for a similar breed, look at our Blue Crevecours which have a fuller more slicked back crest and "cheeks" or Cream Legbars, Olive Eggers or Sapphire Olive Eggers for colored eggs and a small slicked back poof.
Silver Spangled Spitzhaubens are a very active breed, with a smaller crest-tuft like feathers crowning their heads. We tend to think of their crest being more like a mohawk compared to the rounded bonnet held by Polish. They are active foragers, love to range, and we think of them as a little bit of a daredevil, activly seeking out the highest possible perches.
They lay approximtly 155 medium white eggs a year.
